14th-18th November 2016 - Singapore: 15th International Elephant & Rhino Conservation and Research Symposium

The fourth joint International Elephant and Rhino Conservation and Research Symposium is a forum for elephant and rhino conservationists and researchers from around the world to present conservation projects and research outcomes, new technologies in field conservation and conflict mitigation, studies in disease, reproduction and behaviour, and other issues that impact the long term survival of elephants and rhinos.

Prof. Cesare Galli of Avantea presented a paper titled “First results of oocyte maturation and In-Vitro-Fertilisation (IVF) in Sumatran and northern white rhinoceroses”, detailing the outcomes of OPUs performed on two Sumatran rhinoceroses and six southern white rhinoceroses. The paper calls for further advancement for the development of advanced assisted reproduction techniques in rhinoceroses.
