10-12 May 2011: Québec delegation visits Avantea, Italian leading company in reproductive biotechnologies

Avantea, international centre of advanced technologies for animal reproduction and biotechnology research, in Cremona, the heart of Italian livestock genetics, hosted on 10th and 12th of May 2011 a Québec delegation specialised in agro-food, biotechnology and veterinarian medicine. The Canadian delegation included: Anick Leclerc of Ministry of Economic Development, Innovation and Export of Québec, Donovan St-Hilaire of CLD Les Maskoutains, Brahem Bouaou of Nutrania, Véronique Blain of GEGEP Saint-Hyacinthe, Sylvain Quessy and Ann Letellier from Université de Montréal, Faculté de médicine vétérinaire, Dora Rodriguez of Centre québécois de Valorisation des Biotechnologies.

They came to Italy thanks to the Bilateral Agreement between Lombardia Region (Italy) and Ministry of Economic Development, Innovation and Export of Québec (Canada), which has just been renewed by the two Institutions.

“We all have relevant knowledge to share” says Dr.ssa Giovanna Lazzari, Scientific Director of Avantea, “and strengthening collaboration will enhance the value of biotechnology research worldwide.” Lazzari has been invited as Guest Speaker at the Annual Conference of EmbryoGene Network, in Quebec City (7-9 June). The Network involves 7 Canadian Universities, Canadian regulatory agencies, Natural Science and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), 8 industry partners and represents a key point for scientific know-how.
