STgenetics and Avantea announce an exclusive European collaboration combining sex-sorted equine semen and advanced ICSI

Avantea and STgenetics have entered into an exclusive European collaboration bringing together STgenetics’ expertise in semen sex sorting and Avantea’s expertise in advanced equine assisted reproduction and ICSI.

The collaboration creates a new opportunity for breeders to integrate sex predetermination into advanced equine breeding programmes, combining sex-sorted equine semen with Avantea’s ICSI and embryo production expertise.

Combining complementary expertise

Through the collaboration, STgenetics will provide its semen sex-sorting technology, while Avantea will provide itsadvanced equine assisted reproduction and ICSI expertise.

Within the European territory covered by the agreement, STgenetics’ equine semen sex-sorting services for ICSI will be provided exclusively to Avantea, creating an integrated pathway for breeders wishing to use sex-sorted semen within an ICSI programme.

For STgenetics, the collaboration provides the opportunity to combine its sex-sorting technology with Avantea’sestablished expertise in equine assisted reproduction.

“The strategic alliance formed between ST Genetics and Avantea, two global leaders in reproductive technologies, willbenefit horse breeders by providing them with the opportunity to make informed decisions and planning for sex of the offspring from their top quality mares. ST Genetics’ state of the art sperm sorting technology and Avantea’s expertise in advanced equine assisted reproduction brings new opportunities to the European equine breeding industry“, said Juan Samper, Global Director Equine Services at STgenetics.

More choice in breeding decisions

At the heart of the collaboration is a simple objective: to give breeders more options when planning the next generation.

By integrating sex predetermination with ICSI, breeders can include the desired sex of future offspring as an additionalconsideration within their breeding strategy, alongside the other decisions involved in planning an advancedreproduction programme.

“For breeders, having more options means being able to make more informed decisions about the next generation. By combining sex-sorted semen with our expertise in advanced equine assisted reproduction and ICSI, this collaborationadds a new dimension to breeding strategy across Europe,” said Cesare Galli, co-founder of Avantea.

For Avantea, the collaboration represents a further development of its advanced equine assisted reproduction servicesand expands the possibilities available to breeders using ICSI.

More choice for the next generation

The collaboration between STgenetics and Avantea brings sex-sorted equine semen and advanced ICSI together withinan exclusive European framework, creating new possibilities for breeders, stallion owners and equine reproductionprofessionals.

Those interested in learning more about the collaboration and the use of sex-sorted semen within ICSI programmes can contact the Avantea team for further information.
