Paul Schockemöhle Pferdehaltung and Avantea establish cooperation for ICSI programs

Paul Schockemöhle Pferdehaltung GmbH and Avantea announce the start of a cooperation for the use of PS stallions in ICSI programs.

Paul Schockemöhle Pferdehaltung operates one of Europe’s leading stallion stations, with a wide portfolio of internationally successful and emerging sport horse sires. Through this cooperation, breeders now have the possibility to use PS stallions for ICSI procedures carried out at Avantea.

The collaboration combines the genetics and stallion selection of Paul Schockemöhle Pferdehaltung with the technical expertise of Avantea as a specialized laboratory in assisted equine reproduction.

For breeders, this cooperation provides structured access to PS stallions within Avantea’s ICSI programs, including recently introduced stallions as they become available.

PS has recently introduced a new and significantly more breeder‑friendly ICSI model. Under this structure, breeders only pay the first part of the stud fee (the insemination fee), regardless of the number of embryos produced. There are no additional fees per embryo.

If no embryos are produced, the client has the possibility to rebreed, and the mare can also be changed if required. This model is designed to make the use of elite PS genetics through ICSI more transparent and economically attractive for breeders.

ICSI has become an increasingly important technique in modern sport horse breeding, allowing breeders to work with elite genetics while benefiting from advanced reproductive technologies. In this context, cooperation between leading stallion stations and specialized laboratories represents a transparent and professional model.

Avantea welcomes the start of this cooperation, which further strengthens the connection between stallion selection and advanced reproductive biotechnologies, offering breeders additional tools to develop high-level sport horse breeding programs.
