On Saturday, November 16th, during the prestigious 39th IRHA-IRHBA-NRHA Reining Futurity & Italian Championship, Avantea welcomed approximately 60 breeders and owners for an exclusive visit to its state-of-the-art laboratories and stables. This event was a significant opportunity to showcase excellence and innovation in the field of equine assisted reproduction.
During the visit, Professor Cesare Galli, co-founder of Avantea, highlighted the company’s achievements over more than 30 years of activity. The presentation focused on Ovum Pick Up-ICSI (OPU-ICSI), an advanced procedure that serves as an ideal solution in complex cases, such as mares with uterine pathologies or the use of sperm from subfertile stallions or limited-quality samples.
This innovative methodology involves collecting oocytes from donor mares (OPU), fertilizing them in the lab with a single sperm cell (ICSI), and culturing the embryos in vitro. The resulting embryos are then frozen and can be implanted into recipient mares at the optimal time.
Laboratories and Stables
Following the presentation, guests toured Avantea’s modern laboratories, exploring the processes that have made the company a global reference in the field. The visit continued with a tour of the stables, where donor mares are housed, showcasing the company’s dedication to animal care and well-being.
Innovation and Research
The visit also highlighted Avantea’s extensive expertise in the biotechnological sector, which includes cloning techniques, genetic editing, and the development of animal models for scientific research. These models play a critical role in advancing science, enabling the study of complex human diseases with the goal of developing cutting-edge therapies.
A special thanks to the Futurity in Cremona for their collaboration in organizing this event, offering attendees a unique experience to explore Avantea’s technological and scientific excellence up close.
