26th-27th April 2018 – University of Teramo, Italy: Drynet network meeting

Avantea is part of the Drynet network (https://drynet.unite.it) an interdisciplinary/sectorial/ international research network to explore dry storage as an alternative strategy for cells/germplasm biobanking. Drynet is funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Research and Innovation Staff Exchange - Grant agreement No 734434. Drynet is the first step towards turning biobanking into a widespread and accessible technology with considerable cost saving and low environmental impact.

The technical and biological aspects related to the lyophilization, or otherwise induced dehydration, of mammalian cells and gametes were analyzed during the workshop “Current engineering approaches for controlled water subtraction in living cells/germplasm/model organisms”. Professor Cesare Galli and dr. Irina Lagutina from Avantea were participated to meeting.
