Avantea, a leader in assisted reproduction and biotechnology, is proud to announce the launch of an industrial PhD program in collaboration with the\u00a0University of Milan<\/strong>\u00a0and the\u00a0Reproductive and Developmental Biology Laboratory (ReDBioLab)<\/strong>\u00a0within the Department of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Sciences, led by Prof. Alberto Maria Luciano. This initiative, part of the\u00a0Intersectoral Innovation PhD program<\/strong>, marks another milestone in Avantea\u2019s partnership with academia, reinforcing a long-standing synergy aimed at developing innovative solutions in reproductive biotechnology.<\/p>

Innovation and Training: At the Core of the Industrial PhD<\/h3>

The industrial PhD program is a three-year training path that integrates academic research with practical experience in the company. It addresses real-world challenges in reproductive technologies, blending advanced theoretical knowledge with direct laboratory applications.<\/p>

The project has been entrusted to\u00a0Dr. Marco Scaglia<\/strong>, whose work focuses on a cutting-edge topic:<\/p>

\u201cARTs as avant-garde tools to improve the efficiency of livestock breeding: investigation of equine embryo morphokinetics using time-lapse monitoring systems and artificial intelligence.\u201d<\/i><\/p>

The project\u2019s primary goal is to enhance the selection process of embryos produced in vitro via\u00a0Ovum Pick Up \u2013 Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (OPU-ICSI)<\/strong>\u00a0in equines, using advanced monitoring systems and AI algorithms specifically developed for this species.
By leveraging technologies such as\u00a0time-lapse monitoring (TLM)<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0artificial intelligence (AI)<\/strong>, the project aims to identify new markers for selecting embryos with the highest potential for success. These tools provide detailed insights into the early stages of embryonic development, improving decision-making quality and contributing to sustainable breeding practices.<\/p>

ReDBioLab: A Strategic Partner for Advanced Research<\/h3>

For years, Avantea has collaborated with\u00a0ReDBioLab<\/strong>, a center of excellence within the\u00a0Department of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Sciences<\/strong>\u00a0at the\u00a0University of Milan\u2019s Lodi campus<\/strong>. Under the leadership of\u00a0Prof. Alberto Luciano<\/strong>, ReDBioLab is an international reference point in reproductive and developmental biology.<\/p>

The partnership between Avantea and ReDBioLab has recently been strengthened through joint projects, such as research on the preservation of the\u00a0Varzese cattle breed\u00a0<\/strong>within the\u00a0INNOVA Project<\/a>. This initiative will see the birth of the first Varzese calves in December, underscoring the value of collaboration between academia and industry in biodiversity conservation and promoting sustainable practices.<\/p>
